Sunday Goals

This past week was a little nutty for me, which isn't unusual, but it wasn't a "good" nutty. I made my fair share of mistakes at work, spent a little too much money and didn't really want to take responsibility for life.

So today I'm going to start something new. I'm going to broadcast my weekly goals, even if it's silly. Y'all have to keep me accountable, okay?

Goal 1: Get a library card.
I've been pretty down lately about not finding good books to read. But then when I find them, I don't buy them. I think sharing books with others will help keep my budget in check and also not clutter my apartment. Plus, I'll never feel bad picking up a cheesy teen novel and enjoying it.

Goal 2: Focus at work.
This one is going to be tough. Out of all the things I don't understand about my hormones, I do understand how incredibly scatterbrained and confused I get. So this goal goes hand in hand with the next one.

Goal 3: Eat better.
The holidays are over, you can stop saying "I'll stop engorging myself with candy in the new year" because it's almost February.

Goal 4: Exercise every day.
I was doing so well until the holidays rolled around. I just need to get back into the habit! Even something simple, like a few push-ups, can make you feel better.

Goal 5: Keep the online shopping to a minimum.
I shop when I'm bored, sad or lonely. Bad bad! I should shop when I need something instead. So, today I'll be making some returns and crafting. Hopefully for the rest of the week, instead of shopping, I can craft, organize or play with Cairo to pass the time.

20 little things

I was inspired by this post from the College Prepster. Here are 20 little things about me!

1. I love fruit flavored candies.
2. If I start something, I can't take a break, otherwise I won't finish it.
3. I've been a vegetarian since I was in the 4th grade, mostly because I just don't like the way meat tastes (or makes me feel.)
4. I went through a phase in which I was obsessed with cats in elementary school. Coincidentally, I now have the black cat I wanted as a little kid!
5. TV puts me to sleep in less than 5 minutes - and I get my most restful sleep watching TV.
6. I didn't start eating sauce with my pasta until college.
7. I used to hate wearing brown... and now it's my go-to neutral.
8. My hair gets ashy and a little brown if I'm not careful with what shampoo I use.
9. My mom didn't let me shave my legs until high school. I've become a pro with depilatory creams!
10. I think I look good tan, but I've given up on working for the color. Tan in a can is my BFF.
11. I love headbands but I get headband headache so much it really deters me from wearing them.
12. I feel naked without nail polish and/or jewellry.
13. I have mixed feelings about my penmanship.
14. I rarely dream of anything other than the color black. It's like, a green-black with white noise in the background. When I have "real" dreams, they're usually nightmares.
15. I dislike wearing the color red, but I'm trying to be more open to it!
16. I could live in a Lilly skirt and polo shirt. It's become my favorite combination - comfy and pulled together.
17. I used to journal in black and white eggshell composition books.
18. I didn't learn how to swim until college, and even though I aced swim class I still don't think I'm very good at it!
19. I just bought my first car... My parents let me use a Honda (which I totaled) and they gave me a Pontiac. I traded them the Pontiac back and bought myself a station wagon!
20. Rose pink is my favorite color.

Do we share anything? What are 20 little things about you?

Stay true to yourself,
Alyson

The bow that changed the world

Yesterday I was determined to wear Lilly Pulitzer to work. Mostly, I just wanted to, but I also wanted to feel, well, sparkly. So I did.

Middle of the day, I went home on lunch and pulled my hair up into a half pony. It was in my way. Added a bow to dress it up. "What the hell, it's Monday," I said and went off to work.

I ended up having a super amazing, super productive and super sassy work day. I just kinda felt like I owned the world. I'm not sure if it was because I wore a bow or Lilly or not, but....

I'm wearing Lilly and a bow again today, just in case.

It's coming! The Lilly Pulitzer New Years Cheer sale is back!

Every January, a forcive urge to buy Lilly Pulitzer wells up inside me. In the fall, I go through a weird mood when all I want to do is paint my nails a sparkly black color and wear trendy clothes so when winter rolls around I get very interested in the traditional northern prep look- think darker colors and lots of layers.

So naturally, turning to the southern prep look is next. Which is always just in time for the New Years Cheer sale.

                                                       Via Lilly Pulitzer's Facebook page.

This year, I'm looking to add a new iPhone and iPad case to my collection, as well as a new Murfee. I'd also like to add a new skirt and/or dress but I'm not going to push it.

I encourage first time shoppers to make an account early to speed up check out and to also have a game plan in mind. I have to be at work at 9, so I'll probably keep the page up until I leave for work and then check again when I come back.

Stuff does go fast but the servers also crash and things get added throughout the sale. Finally, it's not the end of the world if you don't get the miniskirt. If you really wanted it, would you pay full price, or close to full price, for it? With the amount you saved in other items, could you pay full price in a shop? Definitely consider these things while browsing.

Shop wisely and stay true to yourself,
